Bio

During his freshman year at the University of Maryland (UMD), Baltimore native Johnny Graham set out to create an entertainment company that encompassed his passion as both a performer and entrepreneur. Graham made a name for himself and his company, Freestar Entertainment by performing at the monthly on-campus open mic called “Juke Joint.” Eventually, he went on to host Juke Joint, as well as other events at UMD and other universities. It was through these opportunities that Graham was able to build the Freestar brand. Numerous Freestar-hosted events later, Johnny Graham and Freestar Entertainment have become a fixture in the metropolitan D.C. area.

Graham’s music blends jazz, R&B, hip-hop, rock and soul into an eclectic musical mix. Much like his business ventures, Graham’s performances exhibit skill, creativity, and passion. Currently the bandleader of East Coast touring band Black Diamond, Graham is now set to make his mark with his own solo original material. Joined by some of the finest musicians in the DC and Baltimore Area, Graham performs along with The Groove.

In the spring of 2009, Graham graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in finance and will begin work on his MBA this fall at his alma mater as a Deans Scholar at the Smith School of Business. As Graham balances his studies, a new solo music project, and furthering the Freestar brand, he most certainly is “coming of age.”
